What You Need
- PVA glue
- talcum powder
- food colouring
- water
- borax solution
- a glass
What To Do
- Put 3 teaspoons of PVA glue into a glass
- Add 5 teaspoons of water, one teaspoon of talcum powder, and stir well to get a paste
- Add a couple of drops of food colouring, so you now have a colourful, gluey paste
- Make your borax solution by adding one heaped teaspoon of borax powder into a glass of water
- Add one teaspoon of the borax solution into your colourful, gluey paste and stir
- When the borax solution is mixed in, pull the putty out of the glass and play with it in your hands for a few minutes
- It will be quite slimy at first, but should turn smooth and dry after a while
Store your slime in a airtight container, if it dries out add a little water to re-slime it
If you get it on your clothes or carpet - a little vinegar and warm soapy water should remove it
The Science Bit
You have made a polymer which has qualities of both a solid and a liquid. This means it can take the shape of a container, just like a liquid does but you can also pick it up in your hands, like a solid.
